I still remember the day I was diagnosed with scleroderma—a day that changed my life in more ways than one. Scleroderma is an autoimmune condition that affects the skin and connective tissues, causing them to harden and tighten. The first time I noticed the changes in my skin, I thought it was just a temporary flare-up, something I could fix with a little extra moisture and care. But over time, the dryness, tightness, and irritation became unbearable and my skin started feeling foreign to me.
As someone who had always been interested in skincare, I’d spent years experimenting with different products, hoping to find the perfect regimen that would give me smooth, healthy skin. But after my diagnosis, I quickly realised that most products I had used in the past—filled with chemicals, artificial fragrances and preservatives—only made my skin worse. My skin was more sensitive, more reactive and needed something much gentler. I was tired of feeling like a guinea pig in a never-ending search for relief. It became clear that I needed to take a different approach.
That’s when I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I turned to nature, to the ingredients that had always been part of ancient healing traditions. Aloe vera, coconut oil, shea butter, rose water—these were the things I’d read about but never truly paid attention to before. I started learning about the power of botanical oils and plant-based ingredients and I began experimenting with creating my own skincare blends at home. Slowly but surely, I started to see changes in my skin. It became less irritated, more hydrated, and felt a little more like me again.
After months of creating, testing and refining my formulations, I knew I had something special on my hands. I couldn’t keep these products to myself. The idea of helping other people who, like me, struggled with sensitive, reactive skin—whether because of autoimmune conditions, eczema or simply dryness—felt like my true calling. And so, my brand was born: ECHO.
I wanted to create a skincare line that would be gentle, effective and healing, using only natural ingredients that I could trust. My mission was simple: to offer products that could provide relief to those who were tired of harsh chemicals and synthetic additives, and to help people feel confident and comfortable in their own skin, no matter what they were going through.
